Bottle Coaster
Can I make drink coasters using some grout and bottle caps? Help!?
I have some pre-mixed grout, a coaster mold, and some bottle caps. Should I fill the bottle caps themselves with grout first and let it dry, so that they’re like “tiles,” then fill the gaps with more grout? Or can I just pour the grout into the coaster mold and stick the bottle caps in the grout and let it dry like that? Or should I do something else? Also, I have a grout sealer and I plan on using that when I’m done, so that the condensation from the beverages doesn’t screw up the dried grout.
If you fill the caps first and let them dry, over time they’re more likely to split over time. I would do it all at once, but fill the caps first to ensure there won’t be any air bubbles. The sealer is a good idea; should do more than one coat though.
